August 2021 Update

Updated: Sep 9, 2021

Hi All,

We hope you have enjoyed the summer so far and are doing well. We wanted to give you a quick update on what is planned for Nova’s tidal energy project in Petit Passage and what we have been working on over the last few months.

In February, we undertook a seabed survey of Petit Passage, and results from the survey have been instrumental in deciding on the location of the first turbine.

In early June, we successfully removed the ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) from Petit Passage after 6 weeks in the water. The ADCP measures tidal currents and water levels. Analysis of the data will provide valuable insights to help us further develop the project.

You may have already spotted some changes happening around the East Ferry Wharf with grid extension works starting over the past couple of weeks. This will continue through August and into September, including groundwork preparation for the installation of the substation. The substation itself will be installed later in the summer.

You can now find information on the project at www.novatidalarray.ca and we will be adding project updates to the website going forward. If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach us via email at canada@novainnovation.com, or on Facebook.

Thank you for your continued interest,

The Nova Innovation Team
